| Triage is the decision process of sorting patients to the level of care that best meets their needs. Medical Call Centers assist callers (parents and patients) determine the appropriate action to take, based upon their current symptoms.
Many healthcare organizations choose to provide telephone triage as a service to their customers:
- Patients and surrounding community
- Health plan members
- Physicians (as an after-hours service to manage calls from their patients)
These organizations may operate their own call center, employing nurses to field calls using triage content in software. Or they may purchase triage services provided by national call centers.
Schmitt-Thompson Clinical Content licenses its triage protocols to several call center software vendors and outsourcing service providers. The advantage of working with these partners is being assured of current content, licensed (legally) from STCC.
